The science faculty students of Universal College flew a helicopter within the college premises. The experimentation was carried out as a part of the two day science exhibition and food festival being held at the college.

General Information
a.
Location
UC is conveniently located in the heart of Kathmandu City at Maitidevi. All major public transport routes pass nearby with vehicles to all parts of the city. Supermarkets, banks, post- offices are within strolling distance and the building is surrounded by cafes, shops, and a wide variety of stores.
  b.
Uniform
Uniform at UC is compulsory for all except MA students. It is made by Merina Impex, Bagbazar, Kathmandu.
  c.
Student Identity Card
Every student is given college Identity Card which is required for identification.
  d.
Class Timings
UC runs its all +2, graduate and post-graduate classes in the morning, starting 0600/ 0615 hrs.

Medium of Instruction
The medium at teaching of UC is English.

Library Facilities
Students have access to library, photocopying and printing services. The UC Library collection includes books, journals, audio-visual materials as well as other resources. Books are given to a certain period of time and those who fail to return in time will pay penalty.

First Aid Facilities
First Aid Kits and supplies are kept on the premises. The First Aid Officer responds immediately to requests for first aid assistance.

Counseling
UC counseling service is free, confidential and voluntary. Counselors can help students adjust to their new environment, deal effectively with difficult personal situations. The college provides counseling services in the following areas:
Academic Counseling, Personal Counseling, Career Counseling

Selection of Faculty and Small Class Sizes
UC academic staff are carefully selected and are highly competent in their academic area, experienced and dedicated to the best practice in teaching whilst creating a conducive environment for their students. UC small class sizes are designed to maximise interaction between faculty and students to ensure rich learning experiences and the opportunity to make lifelong friends.

Remedial Classes and Individual Attention
In order to assist students who are having difficulty with their studies or those who wish to improve their marks, UC provides study support. The College academic staff conduct free additional classes, and give individual assistance. Study support includes assistance with assignment preparation, time management, presentations and examination techniques as well as individual feedback sessions for assignments and examination. The brightest are free to excel and the less bright are also given every opportunity and support.

Hostel Accommodation
UC has a very nice new hostel building for boys with a twin –bed system at an affordable cost for the needy students. Special arrangement is made for girls, too.
  l. Orientation Day
An orientation program is conducted by the college before classes begin and is compulsory for all newly arriving students. The program provides information about UC system, student support services, facilities, healthcare, etc. In addition to this, information is given about the responsibilities of UC students including information about how to study UC courses successfully. Students have their first opportunity to meet with fellow students and staff.
  m. Admission Process
Admission to class XI will be open after SLC Exam reults. Interested students are required to fill in the Registration Form as soon as possible. Entrance exams and interviews with students and parents are arranged for admission.
  n. Educational Tour
Every year Universal College organizes Educational Tours within Nepal and India to help gain practical knowledge.
  o. Computer Lab
UC has got enough modern Pentium IV computers with 24 hours free internet facilities. Apart from credit courses in computer prescribed by TU, UC also conducts non-credit computer courses on request.
  p. Seminar Hall
UC has also got a modern seminar hall with multimedia projector, computer, audio visual aid and PA system installed. Students frequently use this hall for sharing and presenting new and innovative ideas.

  r. Scholarship Schemes
Universal College provides a number of scholarship schemes based on the following criteria:i. Academic Scholarship: Up to 100 % free based on SLC / +2 / Bachelor level results. ii. Special Scholarship: Up to 100 % free to school/district/zone toppers, players, disabled and group admission. Also consideration will be given to those who are referred by UC faculty and admin staff, parents, students / ex-students etc.
  s. Attendance
UC demands a minimum of 90% attendance in each subject in order to appear in the Board Exams. Parents are advised to monitor their students' daily presence at the college and their academic performance.
  t. Fee Structures
The college fee structures are moderate, which students can afford. Please refer to a separate sheet for details. Absentees in any exam must pay re-test charges.
  u. Internal Evaluation
All the students are required to take various tests (monthly tests, unit tests, term exams and pre-board exams) as per the academic calendar of the college. Those who are absent in the term exams will pay re-test charge and take the exams one time again. The college will not give any chance to those who are absent in the re-tests. As a result, they are disqualified for the respective board exams.
  v. Class-rooms
At UC classes are small, providing students with the opportunity for individual assistance by lecturers, and tutors, as well as encouraging maximum student confidence and participation. The college also provides the students with free tuition as extra support classes for students who may be experiencing difficulties in major subjects on Saturdays before the respective board exams.
